Knowing signs and symptoms of sarcoma cancer
"When I first joined an online support group I felt really alone and isolated. I didn't know anyone who was going through what I was going through and I couldn't discuss things with my family because I didn't think they would understand. However, that was then and this is now. Since joining I have met loads of great people and really feel part of a community. I feel really supported by the group and have learned so much about my illness. I feel more confident now and have even started discussing it with people in my face to face world. That is all thanks to the advice and support from the online group."
"I feel I understand myself much better now. Just writing things down when I posted messages to the group helped me come to terms with things."
"I have become really invested in the group and have now volunteered to be a group moderator. This has helped me move forward and give back to the group. It still helps me as a patient living with my condition but it means so much that I can now help others. I particularly enjoy supporting new members to the group who are often unsure about how it all works and what goes on here. Seeing them move forward is a great reward."
"I've been much happier since i joined the group. The other members have been really helpful and made me see things in a more positive way. I also feel i have learned more about how to speak with healthcare professionals more confidently. I now know what key questions to ask and the group help me prepare for my consultations."
