The collections referred to here are principally concerned with research into local communities and families. The University of Nottingham's only comprehensive resource for genealogists is a series of marriage bonds from the historic Archdeaconry of Nottingham.
The University of Nottingham holds a wide variety of material relating to local history. The most comprehensive collection of local material is the East Midlands Collection, the only open-access collection held by Manuscripts and Special Collections.
The manuscript collections are also a rich resource for local history, especially within the Family and Estate collections but throughout the University's holdings as a whole.
