Biography

Prof Jo Morling studied Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. She then worked in and around Edinburgh in General Medicine and then Public Health. She completed a Master's in Public Health Research at the University of Edinburgh, before completing her PhD in Epidemiology there also.

Following completion of specialist clinical training as a Clinical Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Nottingham she was awarded a prestigious MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship to advance her working in the field of population screening, diagnostics and health economics.

She is an Honorary Consultant in Public Health with UKHSA and is the NIHR National Specialty Lead for Public Health.

Prof Morling's main areas of research include: prevention and early detection of chronic disease, screening, lifestyle related chronic liver disease and associated behaviour change, health services research, place-based public health and the wider determinants of health.
