Biography
Nick Raine-Fenning works as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Reader / Associate Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, UK. Clinically he manages women with benign gynaecological pathology and subfertility including patient requiring IVF treatment. He is the Director of Research for the Assisted Conception Unit (NURTURE: Nottingham University Research and Treatment Unit in Reproduction) and lead for the Academic Imaging Suite, a state of the art facility that he established in 2005, which provides a high quality clinical service and forms the base for this research team.
Nick is an internationally recognised expert in three-dimensional ultrasound and gynaecological imaging and has given over 100 invited talks, plenary sessions and workshops. He was awarded a PhD in 2004 for work relating to the quantification of pelvic blood flow and has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers and written more than 20 review articles, opinions and editorials. He has served on the Editorial Board of the leading acoustics journal, Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology, since 2005 and was appointed as the Editor for gynaecology at the end of 2008. He was made Deputy Editor-in-Chief in 2001 and leads the gynaecological side of the journal. Nick is a member of the Board of the International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ISUOG) and sits on their Web and Clinical Standards Committees, 3D Focus and Patient Liaison Groups, and leads the Reproductive Medicine component of the Gynecology Focus Group. He is also a core member of the Education Board, who he is helping define Minimal Standards for Gynaecological Imaging, and is leading a task force who are defining guidelines for ultrasound in gynaecology and early pregnancy.
