Assessing blood results
What is happening in 's blood results?
Here is a brief summary of what the results have shown:
- Essentially, 's white cell count has increased due to the body's reaction to infection.
- Her platelet and haemoglobin levels are decreased. The effect of the sepsis will caused the platelets to become sticky and clump together.
- Both urea and creatinine are increased suggesting changes in the way the kidneys are starting to respond to the sepsis.
NB: Having taken blood samples, it is the responsibility of the person taking them to ensure the results are reviewed and followed up.
