PRIMIS RELEASES NEW VERSION OF ITS COMBINED ORAL CONTRACEPTIVE QUALITY IMPROVEMENT TOOL
PRIMIS has released an improved and up-to-date version of its Combined Oral Contraceptive quality improvement tool, which meets the latest UK Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use (UKMEC) guidelines (2016).
The guidelines included major changes from the previous version (2010), which have been captured in the quality improvement tool. These revisions include the exclusions of some methods and conditions and the addition of new conditions.
Conditions no longer included are schistosomiasis, malaria and Raynaud’s disease/phenomenon plus drug interactions are no longer presented. New conditions included are a history of bariatric surgery, organ transplant, cardiomyopathy, cardiac arrhythmias, rheumatoid arthritis and positive antiphospholipid antibodies.
An online summary of the changes to the UKMEC guidelines is available.
