Discovery Days: Amazing Artefacts

Learn about history by exploring the special collections owned by the University.

Amazing Artefacts will cover a ‘History of Writing’ and explore how written style and mediums have evolved through different time periods, from Vikings to modern day. Activities will be based around special collections housed at the University, including replicas of important discoveries (such as the Rosetta stone) and real artefacts from important figures in history (e.g. Florence Nightingale). There will also be a focus on Nottingham and the inclusion of important literary figures from the region, such as D.H. Lawrence. 

Introducing the concept of university and helping children to think about their futures, our outreach officers will run sessions in school, both before and after the Discovery Day.
