Below is a list of additional costs that are not included in your tuition fees
Please note that although any prices stated are correct at this time, these are subject to change (especially those such as gown hire which will not be incurred for a number of years). There is more detailed information available on the university’s tuition fees.
At some point during your course, depending on any research activities, you may be required to undertake a DBS check. The cost of this depends on why you are required to have one and you should always speak to your supervisor beforehand.
During the course of your studies, you will have the opportunity to apply to study abroad.
Studying abroad does not have to be any more expensive than studying in Nottingham if you budget well and take advantage of any funding for which you may be eligible.
Additional costs to consider include travel, insurance, visa costs and vaccinations/medicals (if applicable).
There is a wide range of sources of funding to help make studying abroad affordable for all, including reduced tuition fees, bursaries, grants, and scholarships.
The cost of any travel to/from placements or work experience is not included in the tuition fee. Therefore, this may be an additional cost you will need to budget for.
If your university ID card is lost, stolen, or damaged there is a fee for a replacement. Security may waive the fee for stolen cards if a crime number is supplied.
Students who are required to undertake re-sit examinations will be charged a flat fee of £80 regardless of the number of reassessments you take. If you have approved extenuating circumstances from your initial attempt, there will be no charge for a first sit examination.
Letters confirming that you are a student are provided by Student Services free of charge. You will be able to access and print your transcript via BlueCastle or order an official transcript for £3. If following graduation, you require additional transcripts or confirmation that you studied at the university then a small charge will be made.

When you enrol on your modules, you will see a reading list that contains various textbooks and other sources. You are not required to buy any textbooks as they are all available in the library. Lots of the textbooks are available as eBooks. Some courses may suggest buying textbooks – see the relevant Before You Start page for these.
The School of Psychology does have several computer rooms available for students studying on campus, so it is not always necessary to purchase a laptop; however, many students do and find it useful to have their own device. If you do choose to purchase or bring a device with you then please check the minimum specification for Windows PCs here. Any Apple Mac/MacBook meets the minimum specifications. We advise not to purchase Chromebooks, iPads, tablets, or similar as they cannot run the apps required on the course. The university offers a laptop loan service and other support for students who do not have access to personal devices.
Research projects may require additional/other materials or costs. Speak to a supervisor before purchasing.
