The Project begins

The first of these are being constructed during the autumn of 2006 is the Stoneguard C60 home. The C60 home is also to be an educational project, using some of our undergraduate students who will gain invaluable work experience as part of the construction workforce.

Student Build team C60

The industry linked Creative Energy Homes project is an example of inter-institute collaboration, with the first house, the Stoneguard C60, designed by interdisciplinary members of the School's teaching staff, Mr Guillermo Guzman (Architecture) and Dr Mark Gillott (ISET) under the leadership of Professor Saffa Riffat. A construction workforce of undergraduate students from architecture and building technology will work on the build, and PhD students will undertake a number of research studies associated with the construction. As a building project within a few metres of our main building, the Stoneguard C60 is a showpiece to all students of innovative construction methods.
