E-mail (work) - Michael@thefooodtechnologycentre.co.uk

Michael is currently the Quality Manager at The Food Technology Centre, Manchester. The main sphere of his work is food microbiology testing (not the molecular stuff that was his main interest at university), but he also completes nutritional analysis, screens for mycotoxins, allergens, does HACCP, etc. and just recently yeast and mould identifications (a bit tricky).

Michael still visits Nottingham to to meet with friends from the university.

David Plant

E.mail -chiefgibbon@hotmail.com (from mid October 2000)

Davids been busy since leaving Nottingham; initially a chef in Exeter, followed by freelance photography, a bit of marketing and journalism in London. He did a stint on Nature, then ran his own local London magazine before working on some comedy magazines including Smash Hits, FHM, Q and Empire.

A year ago David thought he'd give the new media/internet/digital T.V. malarkey a pop - and to quote him directly, "It's been good."

After a bout of 'existential/one-life to live/heart not head' thoughts, he was led to change things, to challenge himself. So now David's emigrating to Belize, Central America in mid October to work on conservation reserves. Two on the coral reef islands, one in the rainforest and one in Maya Mountains. He says he is 75% excited, 25% scared. No doubt it will be a challenge and a chance to use at least some of his degree knowledge.

David urges friends to contact him if they fancy a holiday.
