Changes to NUsearch

Whilst many of the changes have taken place behind the scenes, there are several changes you will see when searching for items and managing your library account:

  • New design
  • Real time updates to resources. Your searches will always show the most up-to-date results, and new digital materials will be available straight away.
  • Improvements to item records and filters

Changes to journals and databases search

The new version of NUsearch now allows you to search inside journals for your keywords, improving discoverability of information.

Following the upgrade, the Journals and Databases search no longer includes an option to browse by A-Z.  These resources can still be found by searching by key terms, title or categories (databases only).

Changes to permalinks

Permalink addresses to items have changed in the new system. Redirects are in place but we recommend checking any permalinks you may have stored locally or added to teaching or research materials.

If you identify any issues, please get in touch.

Changes to your Library Account - including action required for retaining saved searches

All saved information in your Library Account and Favourites including Saved records will have been migrated over to the new version of NUsearch, however, any Saved searches and Search history will not have transferred.

If you saved a copy of your searches before the upgrade, please find instructions below on how to recreate these in the new system. If you still need to access your saved searches but didn’t save a copy, we can help you to access these.

I saved a copy of my saved searches before the upgrade and need to know how to add them in the new version

To recreate your saved searches:

  1. Log into NUsearch
  2. For each search you would like to recreate, enter the search terms into the NUsearch search box and hit enter or click the magnifying glass icon.
  3. Select the Save search option at the top of the search results to save each search.
  4. If you would like to receive email notifications for your saved search, select Turn on notification for this query.

I didn’t save a copy of my searches before the upgrade but want to be able to access them now

To request a copy of your saved searches from the previous version of NUsearch:

Email library-helpline@nottingham.ac.uk with your university email address / username and your full name.
