Luke is working on the entrapment and manipulation of molecules at the nanoscale with the Nanocarbon group.
Joe is probing depositions of a photosynthetic analogue on crystal lattices using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) or ambient pressure while exposed to varying wavelengths of light.
Supervisors: Graham Newton and Victor Sans Sangorrin
Lisa's work with the Newton group focuses on the study of asymmetric polyoxometalate hybrids and their potential role in catalytic systems. She is currently working on devising a reliable synthetic route to functionalise a polyoxometalate with two different organic groups.
Supervisors: Steve Howdle and Paul Brown
Ryan graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2017 with a Chemistry MSci and went on to join the LDMI DTP later that year. His research focuses on the self-assembly of block copolymers to form nanostructured materials.
Sebastian obtained his BEng in industrial engineering in 2016 and MSc in mechanical engineering in 2017. His PhD project focuses on the formation and oxidation processes of soot from modern internal combustion engines.
Supervisors: David Amabilino and Peter Beton
Catherine studied her undergraduate here at Nottingham with her master's project completed in the Amabilino group studying chiral chromophores for organic solar cells based on small organic molecules. Now she is working towards her PhD in the same group that she undertook her masters researching tailored heteroepitaxy of nanostructured thin films for de novo organic electronic devices under stress.
Supervisors: Elena Besley and Paul Brown
Edward did his masters degree at the University of Leicester finishing in June 2017. His PhD project is based on using practical and computational means to manipulate electron beam energy transfer for single atom control.
