Nottingham canoeists tame wild water

Description
The end of November would bring the first of the BUCS canoe events of the season with the University of Nottingham entering athletes into multiple disciplines at the Wild Water Racing in Perth & Kinross, Scotland. The event brought great success for our canoeists in 2021, and the team headed north with hopes of a similar performance.

Hundreds of University of Nottingham students tried martial arts for the first time thanks to a week of activities scheduled to celebrate the nationwide Martial Arts week from the 21st to the 27th of November.Taking place at David Ross Sports Village and Jubilee sports centre, student sports leaders delivered over fifteen sessions across nine different sports including; Aikido, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Taekwondo and Thai Boxing.

David Ross Sports Village played host to more home success in BUCS Championship action for the #GreenandGold, this time for the University of Nottingham Taekwondo club. Entering the BUCS Autumn Championships, the event would see many athletes representing the #GreenandGold in BUCS competition for the very first time.

Men's mental health takes centre stage as University of Nottingham Sport unite for Movember

Sport is full of colour. It is littered with special moments that over the course of a season we have the privilege to showcase it in all its glory through video, motion, and photography. Yet sadly, so many are robbed of the colour and warmth of sport, and indeed their lives due to poor mental health. Men with mental health conditions often describe their life as feeling drained of colour. As part of our Movember campaign, we turned off the colour on our Instagram posts in support of those whose lives can seem colourless at times, to raise awareness, to start the conversation and to raise vital funds to support some of the amazing initiatives that are saving Men's lives.

Short Course success in the pool for Nottingham

Twenty-one University of Nottingham swimmers travelled to the BUCS Short Course Championships, held in Sheffireld. Attending the gala, our athletes put in fantastic performances across both individual events and team events. The travelling #GreenandGold contingent was made up of a mix of returning swimmers and new students, as well as entrants into the para events.

University of Nottingham Snowsports club returned with an impressive five-medal haul from the Regional Qualifiers for the British Universities Indoor Ski Championships on 2nd November, and the British Universities Dryslope Ski Championships on the 11th November.

The University of Nottingham Table Tennis club have continued their fantastic form from last year into the 2022/23 BUCS season, and this was no more apparent than with the recent BUCS Individuals Championships that were held at our David Ross Sports Village on the 19th and 20th November.

Valiant effort not enough for Nottingham in the PSL

The University of Nottingham's return to the all-glass court at David Ross Sports Village for Premier Squash League action saw an evening of high quality squash and matches that went right down to the wire. Shortly after the large crowd had filled their seats at courtside on Tuesday night (22 November), proceedings got underway with both teams announced onto court as we welcomed visitors Alba Storm.

Global success for University of Nottingham Powerlifters

Description
At the end of October the University of Nottingham Powerlifting club travelled all the way over to Turkey to compete in the World University Championships in Istanbul. The #GreenandGold contingent had a number of athletes competing across a number of different weight classes and came away with multiple medals and personal bests from the five day competition (30/10 - 4/11).

Historic championship for University of Nottingham Tennis

Description
Last weekend's BUCS Teach First Doubles Tennis Championships saw history being made by the University of Nottingham Tennis club with the #GreenandGold putting in two days of fantastic performances. Travelling to The Shrewsbury Club in Shropshire, the Nottingham contingent included entrants into both the men's and women's competitions, taking on the best of UK university tennis.
