Molecular Biology

Research molecular biology in the Nottingham BBSRC DTP

Molecular biology is a scientific discipline covering the analysis of biological macromolecules that are necessary for cell function. This includes the study of the synthesis, mechanisms, and interactions between important biological molecules, such as nucleic acids and proteins. Molecular biology uses a range of techniques to analyse the mechanisms and control of important processes that occur within the cell and are essential for life, such as DNA replication, DNA repair, transcription and translation.
