Stem cells are cells differentiating into other types of cells, which can also divide in self-renewal to produce further stem cells. Research in this area includes both model organisms and humans and includes cellular biology and genetic studies of adult, foetal and neural stem cells and the use of stem cells in cell-based therapies.
