Back pain

Diagram: spinal cord, side viewBack pain is currently the main reason for sickness and absence and 80% of adults will experience lower back pain. Most injuries to the lower back happen at work and healthcare workers are at increased risk from injury. This is because they regularly have to move and handle patients yet the human body is delicate and awkward to handle. Lower back pain can be caused by a variety of factors which include: lifting of heavy objects; muscle strains or tears; quick movements; continuous working; poor posture and accidents. These damage the normal anatomy of the lumbar spine.
