Moving and Handling: application of principles
Moving on the bed
The
patient should always be encouraged and allowed to move themselves where
possible. Physically assisting a patient to sit up from a lying position will
place an enormous strain on your back and when profiling equipment is available
it should be used as it reduces the need for moving and handling.
