Now recruiting for Intramural Sport Exec roles

Description
University of Nottingham's Intramural Sport (IMS) programme is one of the largest in the country. Every year over 3,000 students take part in our leagues and one-day tournaments in 12 different sports. Competitive, social and all based on campus IMS is a great way to stay fit and meet new people. The programme is led by student volunteers – our IMS Exec – who gain invaluable experience in organising, managing and promoting our leagues and events and we're now recruiting for our 2021/22 team.

Sport for Good Nottingham announces new partnership with the Notts County Foundation

University of Nottingham Sport are delighted to announce a brand new partnership with local charity, Notts County Foundation, who are now an official partner for the Sport for Good Nottingham Programme, supporting their innovative school outreach programme. The partnership announcement comes as a further boost after the Sport for Good Nottingham programme recently secured £170,000 extended funding from Sport England to continue activity for a further two years.

University of Nottingham Medical School students feature at the AJ Bell Squash Championships

It was a successful weekend for University of Nottingham Sport scholars at the AJ Bell England Squash Championships. Postgraduate student Georgina Kennedy (MSc Health Psychology) finished runner up to World No. 6 Sarah-Jane Perry in the Women's Championship and a strong showing from Lucy Beecroft (MSc Health Psychology) saw her finish 3rdin a tough group.

On Wednesday 13 January, BUCS issued a statement to confirm that all the league and knockout cup fixtures for the 2020-21 season will be cancelled. This follows the introduction of new lockdown measures which restrict the ability to train, play and compete in sport across the U.K due to continued impact of Covid-19.

Kelly Sibley appointed England women's coach

Description
University of Nottingham Head Table Tennis Coach, Kelly Sibley is targeting more Commonwealth Games success for England after being appointed National Coach for the England women's team through to the Birmingham 2022 Games. The five-time national women's singles champion brought the curtain down on her playing career as part of the bronze medal-winning England squad at the 2018 Games in Gold Coast and also won mixed doubles bronze alongside Danny Reed at Glasgow 2014.

In November, the UK was plunged into a nationwide lockdown and all sporting activity ground to a halt. Not to be deterred, clubs set about a range of innovative and creative ways to stay engaged with their members and our new Club Engagement Prize fund has recognised their incredible efforts.

University of Nottingham secure four top University sport awards

Description
University of Nottingham scooped four prestigious national Higher Education Sport awards last night including Sportswoman and Team of the Year. The 2020 British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) awards, delivered virtually for 2020, celebrated the achievements of student athletes who excelled in their sporting endeavours, as well as volunteers and administrators who have gone above and beyond to progress the sports provision at their institution.
