You can now recycle your used writing instruments on campus.
There are now pen recycling points on our campuses, including in all libraries on University Park: Hallward, George Green and Greenfield Medical.
Collected writing instruments will be given to local Alderman Pounder Infant and Nursery School who will then sell them and use the money received to benefit their pupils.
Accepted
- Pens (plastic and metal)
- Felt tips
- Highlighters
- Markers
- Mechanical pencils
- Correction instruments
- Fountain pens and their ink cartridges.
Not accepted
- Glue sticks
- Erasers
- Rulers
- Pencils
- Sharp objects (scissors, knives)
Once collected, the used writing instruments are separated by material composition, cleaned and melted into hard plastic that can be remoulded to make new recycled products.
Please bring any used pens to the libraries to be recycled.
If you think your work area could benefit from a pen recycling tub, please email sustainability@nottingham.ac.uk.
