American Studies Primary Discovery Day 2017

The Department of American and Canadian Studies hosted a very successful American Studies primary discovery day on the 13 Novemeber 2017. We welcomed 60 Year 6 pupils (10-11 year olds) from the Windmill LEAD Academy who engaged with an interactive session on the Civil Rights Movement with 3 undergraduates: Daisy Merriman, Emma Barden (Year 2) and Nathaniel Whittaker-Thompson (Year 4) and a cross-states trading challenge with 3 postgraduates: Sophie Campbell, Lauren Eglen and Kelly Beestone. The students adapted these sessions from previous years and added their own stamp and employed their own knowledge to make them fresh and stimulating. All six students worked really hard to engage a tough age group.

We congratulate them for their sterling effort and commitment to this area of work.
