Successful Fourth Year project demonstration in Inverness

Two of our 4th-year students, Laurence Herbert and Niall O'Dwyer, visited WoodBlocX in Dingwall, Inverness, Scotland on 25/26 March in the final stage of their joint 4th-year project.WoodBlocX is a garden landscaping company that manufactures lego-like, wooden garden structures for use in the garden or playground. The visit was part of the fourth-year project in which Laurence and Niall are automating parts of the design process that uses complex computer-aided design software. As with all software-development projects, it is important to get customer feedback throughout the project and this proved to be a great opportunity for Laurence and Niall to do this. The software was demonstrated to the company for the first time and this gave them an insight into the benefits it could bring when the final version is delivered. The staff at WoodBlocX provided Niall and Laurence with feedback on their work and made suggestions for the remainder of the development as it enters its final stages.

A big thank you goes to WoodBlocX for making Laurence and Niall's visit pleasant and rewarding and their co-operation in making this project a success is gratefully acknowledged.
