Magnus Academy pupils enjoy Chinese cultural activities at NCI

Free Lunchtime Tai Chi Practice with Dr Lan Lo

Description
Nottingham Confucius Institute were delighted to offer weekly Tai Chi practice sessions for University staff, students and members of the general public between 28 January and 18 March. The events took place every Friday between 12:00-12:45pm, led by Dr Lan Lo, a qualified Tai Chi instructor and member of staff at the University.

Chinese New Year Workshops at Lakeside Arts Centre

To follow our amazing outdoor projection show 'Xiwàng' ('Hope'), Nottingham Confucius Institute (NCI) in partnership with Lakeside Arts organised a series of fun, interactive workshops over the 15-day Chinese New Year celebration period (1-15 February) at the University's arts centre.

Local school pupils celebrate the Year of the Tiger with NCI

The past three weeks saw Nottingham Confucius Institute staff and student volunteers busy delivering Chinese language lessons and cultural workshops for local schools as a major part of its Chinese New Year celebrations, involving over ,1300 school pupils from across six primary and secondary schools.

NCI holds 13th "China and Me" Mandarin Speech Contest Online

Description
19th November saw nine candidates have their "China and Me" Speech Contest video entries broadcast live for assessment by a panel of judges at our ZOOM event. The candidates included one staff member, six UoN students and two local residents studying with NCI. Established in 2009 by Nottingham Confucius Institute (NCI), the "China and Me" Speech Contest is an annual event that offers Mandarin learners an opportunity to test and showcase their language skills. Winners of the contest are to be selected and trained to attend the following year's Chinese Bridge Competition, representing the University of Nottingham.
