Introductory Facilitation of Learning

Who is the Introductory course for?

The UoN Introduction to Facilitation of Learning (FoL) online course aims to develop the knowledge and supervisory skills of practice educators who train our dietetic (MNutr) students.

The course is designed specifically for those who are:

  • New to training MNutr students, or
  • Require a refresher on student training

Mentor Training is also provided as an online training course - please click here for further information.

What is Introductory Facilitation of Learning and what does it involve?

The FoL online course content includes:

  • Information about the MNutr course and our practice placement structure
  • Providing and receiving effective feedback
  • Managing challenging students
  • Practice placement assessment tools and learning outcomes
  • Group interactive online sessions

What is required from you:

  1. The online course requires at least 4 hours of self-directed learning to complete the first section.  This needs to be done before attending the first ‘live’ group session delivered using Microsoft (MS) Teams.
  2. The first live teams session is taught for 2.5 hours online
  3. After attending the first live teams session, you are then required to undertake a further 1-2 hours of online self-directed learning, before attending a final 1 hour question and answer ‘live’ teams group session.

You are required to undertake all of the 3 components to complete the course and obtain your FoL certificate.

Equipment and IT set-up:

The FoL course is accessed and delivered entirely online using MS Teams and a UoN online learning platform. You will require a laptop/tablet/PC with a working microphone and webcam to be able to fully engage with the course content.
