David Ross Sports Village hosts huge BUCS success for the University of Nottingham Table Tennis club!

The BUCS Individual Table Tennis Championships took place at our David Ross Sports Centre last weekend over two days of highly competitive action. It was a fantastic weekend for the #GreenandGold who came away with a brilliant medal haul that amounted to the clubs biggest achievement to date.

Over 300 eager spectators packed out the balcony at the David Ross Sports Village to witness the BUCS National Trophy 1st round clash between the University of Birmingham and defending champions the University of Nottingham. Flying Start for #GreenandGold Ultimate

Description
Earlier this month, athletes from the university's Ultimate Frisbee club competed at the Women's BUCS Midlands Tier 1 Competition in Coventry, at the University of Warwick. Taking place on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 November, this was the first set of outdoor games this season for the women's team and the first ever outdoor games for many of our players due to the season being cut by COVID last year.

Description
Earlier this month University of Nottingham athletes competed in the first of three BUCS canoe events this season. Held at Grandtully Station Park in Perth & Kinross, Scotland on the first weekend of November, the BUCS Canoe Wildwater Racing Championships were full of action, as well as plenty of success for the #GreenandGold!

University of Nottingham Snowsport land a 'BIG' victory to make history at BUDS Downhill 2021

Description
University of Nottingham's Ollie Bignell secured two titles, the Individual Snowboard Race Duals and the Men's Snowboard race slalom to make club history. The club president also picked up a bronze in the Men's Snowboard Big Air to top a memorable visit to Scotland.

First Headliner event of the year announced!

We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the first Headliner event of the academic year on the 24th November at David Ross Sports Village! The event will focus on our Men's Football team's attempt to retain the BUCS Trophy that they won last time the competition was played.

UoN Student wins silver whilst on Exchange

Description
Lauren McNeil, who is currently on exchange in Kelowna, has helped the University of British Columbia (UBC) move up three places to be ranked 6th in Canada. After winning the silver medal at the Canada West Championships last weekend, the UBC Okanagan Heat women's cross-country team moved up three spots in the national rankings on Tuesday, sitting in sixth place in the weekly Top 10 vote.

#GreenandGold Powerlifters compete at the Junior Nationals

Last month, athletes from the university's powerlifting club competed at the British Powerlifting Junior Nationals in Ashington. Over the course of the 3 day event that took place between the 22nd and 24th October, many of our powerlifters managed to secure medals across different classes and disciplines.

University Football Club continues their Free School Meals campaign

Description
Last year, the University's Men's Football Club provided over 200 free school meals in Lenton at St Paul's RC Church after being inspired to create positive change by Marcus Rashford's national campaign. The club have continued their incredible work and are once again providing free school meals to those who need it the most in Nottingham. This October half term from the 25th to the 29th, the club will be based in the city centre at Fat Cat (8 Chapel Bar, NG1 6JQ) between 12 and 1 handing out free school meals to children this year. We visited the club whilst they were on site at Fat Cat and spoke to Max Swanson to find out more about the clubs aims, as well as how they hope to continue to make a difference in the community.
