Support for first-year students

Due to the diversity of our cohort, we make a special effort to provide additional support for students starting degrees in the School of Mathematical Sciences to ensure that all preliminary content is clearly available.

Additional free support from The Advanced Mathematics Support Programmes

The Advanced Mathematics Support Programmes (AMSP) is offering a supported self-study course for Year 13 A level Mathematics students (and gap year students) who are progressing to degree study this autumn.  You can use these resources over the summer to support your preparation for your degree.

The AMSP Transition to University Course is free and covers key concepts in A level Mathematics and introduces some new topics that are in Further Maths, such as complex numbers and matrices. Students, working through the course, will consolidate their skills and understanding, building their confidence with mathematics, so that they are able to make a successful transformation to university.
