E-Bikes

Want a fun, sustainable way to travel around Nottingham? Bike hire operator Lime has launched an electric bike (e-bike) rental scheme in Nottingham, in partnership with Nottingham City Council. Users can pick up and return Lime e-bikes from a network of designated e-bike-hire bays across the city.

If you need to report an issue you can do so via the Lime mobile app on Apple or Android. Alternatively, issues can be reported by:

Phone: 0800 808 5223

Email:  support@li.me

Social media: Twitter @limebike

How to hire a bike

You can hire e-bikes through the Lime app which is available on the Apple app store or the Google Play store

For more information about e-bikes see https://www.transportnottingham.com/cycling/hire-a-bike/

Lime charges a fixed rate (£1.00) to unlock an e-bike and then 17p per minute to ride.

UoN students are eligible for ‘Lime Access’ which offers a 50% discount on the unlock and usage charges. Sign up through this link using a photo of your UoN Student Card and the discount will be applied to your Lime account.

For longer journeys, or if you want to use an e-bike a couple of times a day, then Lime 'Ride Passes' may be a cheaper option:

  • 30-minute pass – £2.99 (to use within 24h)
  • 60-minute pass – £4.99 (to use over 3 days
  • 160-minute pass – £12.99 (to use over 7 days)
  • 280-minute pass – £17.99 (to use over 30 days)

With these passes, the unlock fee is waived. Ride passes can be purchased via the Lime app and are available to all Lime e-bike users.

Where can I hire a bike on Campus

The e-bikes can only be used within the Nottingham City Boundary. We have worked Lime and NCC to identify 16 e-bike hire locations across University Park and the Medical School, Jubilee Campus and King’s Meadow Campus.

The active parking pins map shows the e-bike hire locations across our Nottingham City Campuses and in the wider Nottingham City area – when you want to hire a bike then use the Lime app to see which locations have bikes available. You can use the Lime app to find parking locations and bikes available for hire close to your term time home.

The scheme includes ‘Go Slow’ zones where e-bike speeds are restricted and ‘No-go’ zones where e-bikes are prohibited. On University Park, e-bikes are not permitted in the Trent Building Courtyard, and at Jubilee Campus they are now allowed along the lakeside footpath.

Lime e-bikes must be picked up and dropped off at the designated parking bays. Lime e-bikes cannot be left outside these parking areas. Users who fail to park correctly will receive a fine. Users who repeatedly fail to park correctly will be banned.

When using E-bikes on our Campuses you must be follow the University’s Traffic Regulations
