Note – This opportunity is available to existing university staff only.
An opportunity has arisen to join the Sustainability team as an Environmental Officer. This role will work with both the Sustainability Team and project leads from School of Geography, Nottingham Business School as well as Learning and Development.
The team have been successful in securing Strategic Innovation funding to deliver a Building a Sustainable Workforce project.
Building on the resources published by the Leadership and Management Academy in November 2022 and the Estate Office Sustainability staff induction, this project seeks to establish a platform to enable our staff to improve their knowledge of sustainability and adopt more sustainable behaviours through both formal and informal learning opportunities. It will upskill staff to be able to deliver future training, thereby creating a sustainable programme. The longer-term vision is to expand the formal side of the project to students to enable them to get both a better understanding of the climate crisis, but also enable them to become trainers to then train their peers and local community groups. This project will also utilise Climate Fresk and Carbon Literacy Training packages.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver the University’s sustainability ambition and will focus on developing environmental education and training initiatives and programmes for university staff. The successful candidate will coordinate the roll-out of online resources and materials, in-person climate education workshops and establish a network of staff trainers. You will also work with and support the delivery of a sister project focused on sustainability training for students.
This post will be offered for 5 days per week (36.25 hours per week) on a secondment basis until 31 July 2024.
The closing date for applications is 5.00pm, 21 August 2023.
Informal enquiries and applications may be addressed to Alison Clayton, email alison.clayton@nottingham.ac.uk.
