An outdoor gym has been installed at Sutton Bonington's Diamond Wood, combining fun and physical activity for all fitness levels.
The University of Nottingham’s Diamond Wood, located on Pasture Lane in Sutton Bonington, was designed as a recreational and education facility to be enjoyed by the whole community. The Pasture Lane site is comprised of distinct habitat areas, including: native woodland, wet woodland, wildlife pond and a focused teaching area. Three years on, many of these areas are thriving, but the site offered few active recreational facilities.
This has now changed, with the installation of a Trim Trail within the site. The trail has been divided into two runs, each with five pieces of apparatus, which can be enjoyed by adults and older children alike. The trail has been designed so that the different pieces focus on different areas of the body, to provide both a cardio and strengthening workout for users. It includes: ladder walks, leap frogs balance beams, chin ups and challenging hurdles.
The trim trail can be incorporated into a 3 mile circular route, which starts and ends at the University's Sutton Bonington campus.
