Discounted Yourbus bus passes now available to staff

bus in Yourbus liveryYourbus is the latest transport operator to join the University’s travel pass scheme, which enables staff to purchase a range of travel passes through salary deductions – many at discounted rates. By signing up, a monthly payment is taken directly from your net salary for twelve months.

The deals available to University staff are:

  • Annual adult city pass - £29.16 per month
  • Annual adult network pass - £57.50 per month
  • Annual student city pass - £15 per month (for staff eligible for student discount)
  • Annual student network pass - £35.42 per month (for staff eligible for student discount)
  • genie card (includes 10% extra free) - from £12.50 per month

Which pass is most suitable for my journeys?

  • The annual pass provides 365 consecutive days of travel on Yourbus routes. The passes are available for the city fare zone and the wider Yourbus network area (see zone map for further details).
  • If you travel by bus less frequently, the genie card may be more suitable as credit is pre-loaded onto the card to be used on a ‘pay as you go’ basis. A genie card gives 20% off the cash fare of single tickets on Yourbus routes. Yourbus will also add 10% extra credit free, e.g. if you apply for £150 credit, you will receive £165 credit.
  • If you travel by bus as well as by tram, then the multi-operator Kangaroo pass may be more suitable.

To take advantage of these prices, just complete the application form and return it to Pension & Benefits Services at King’s Meadow Campus. Sign up by 14th September in order to start your pass on 1st October! Thereafter, applications will be accepted on a monthly basis; forms must be received by the 14th of the month prior to the month you wish the travel pass to commence.

For further information on the Yourbus scheme, plus details of similar schemes for purchasing train, tram and bus passes (including the Kangaroo pass), visit our Discounted staff travel webpage.
