Top-up Robin Hood cards on campus

Robin Hood ticket machine on East Drive, University ParkIf you like the flexibility to choose between the tram and different buses, but aren’t a frequent traveller, the Robin Hood pay-as-you-go (PAYG) card may be for you!

It’s a smartcard with an electronic purse from which the cost of travel is automatically deducted as you travel around Nottingham. You don’t have to decide in advance which ticket to purchase – the card works this out and gives you the best fare on the day for the trips you’ve made (usually at least 10% off the cash fare).

Robin Hood ticket machines have recently been installed on campus, enabling you to purchase and top-up Robin Hood PAYG cards and check the current balance on your card. Machines are located outside The Exchange Building at Jubilee campus and on East Drive at University Park campus (a map of other locations around the city is available from the Robin Hood website).

Just follow the on-screen instructions and select the amount of money you wish to put onto your card. There’s an initial fee of £2 to purchase the card, then minimum top-up value is £5, maximum is £50.

The Robin Hood PAYG card is valid on all NET trams, plus Nottingham City Transport, Trent Barton, Park and Ride and Nottingham Community Transport Link buses in the Robin Hood Network area

At present there’s only an adult rate for PAYG cards, but student products are under development.

Students travelling frequently on public transport may prefer to purchase a student academic year pass, whilst University of Nottingham staff are able to purchase an annual pass through payroll deductions.
