s part of Liftshare Week 2017, the University of Nottingham is encouraging staff to sign up for the University’s car share scheme and find someone to travel with, saving on cash and carbon.
The University provides a free-to-use website specifically for staff, which allows staff with empty car seats to connect with those who are making a similar journey. Why not take a look during Liftshare Week (2-8 October)?
You don’t have to car share every day to make a difference! Even sharing just once a week offers financial savings, as well as reducing your carbon footprint, congestion and demand for parking spaces. Plus you might make great new connections through giving it a go!
Staff can get involved whether or not they have a car. Those in the car can then decide to either share the driving, or make a contribution toward the fuel – and as no profit is being made, there’s no impact on motor insurance.
To celebrate Liftshare Week, anyone who gets in touch with another Liftshare member via a message or a share request between 25 September and 15 October 2017 will be entered into a prize draw to win £250. This applies whether you’re an existing member or trying it for the first time. And to say ‘thanks for sharing’, those staff already in a Liftshare team will be automatically entered.
The more University staff that have registered a journey, the greater the chance of finding someone to car share with, so it’s worth encouraging your colleagues to join too.
