Get involved in Sustainability Week 2020

Once again, the University of Nottingham is celebrating Sustainability Week!

Sustainability Week is a week of events and activities across all campuses to encourage students to engage with environmental and social issues and empower them to make positive change.

This year, Sustainability Week will be hosted by the Environment and Social Justice Network and, to help in their ambition to make 2020's week even bigger and better, the Sustainability Team will be putting on a variety of great events for you to get involved in!

This year events will take place from the 2nd-8th of March.

Some highlights of the week will be:
Monday the 2nd of March 

Carbon Information Stall, 8.30am-10am, Physics Building, University Park Campus

Come see us at our stall and learn all about how energy and carbon is managed at UoN.

 

Secondhand Bike Sale, 10.30am-2.30pm, George Green Quad, University Park Campus

Buy a preloved bike at our pop-up bike sale! 

 

Dr Bike Drop-In, 10.30am-2.30pm, George Green Quad, University Park Campus

Dr Bike is an on-site bike maintenance service. The Dr Bike mechanic will give cycles a thorough check and make any minor repairs such as changing brake blocks and tightening brakes.

No booking is required for this free event.

Tuesday the 3rd of March

Come see us at our stall and learn all about how energy and carbon is managed at UoN.

 

Waste Workshop, 11am-1pm, Portland Building, University Park Campus

Do you have any questions about how waste is managed at the University of Nottingham? Or are you just curious as to what can and can not be recycled on campus? Either way come down to our stall, located on the B Floor of Portland, and discover more!

 

Getting to Net Zero Carbon; Exploring pathways to carbon neutrality through individual and collective action, 5.30pm-7pm, Goldsmith Teaching and Learning Building 102

Nottingham has set an ambitious plan to be the first carbon neutral city in the UK with a target of net zero emissions by 2028. Come find out more about how Nottingham City Council, Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham are working toward this ambition.

Booking is required for this free event hosted by Nottingham Trent University at their City Campus.

Wednesday the 4th of March

Led Bike Ride, 12pm- 3.30pm, George Green Quad, University Park Campus

You don't have to be an experienced cyclist to join us for this free led bike ride around University Park. Perfect for cyclists of all abilities, so if you are interested in taking up a new hobby, or even just fancy spending the day a little differently, then get feel free to get involved!

'Carbon, Campus and Me', 5.30pm-6.30pm, Sir Clive Granger Building room A41, University Park Campus

With Sustainability being an integral part of the University Strategy this event will focus very much on our journey so far, where we are, where we want to get to and explore what our priorities should be to help deliver our sustainability ambition.  This session will be interactive so please bring along your thoughts and ideas.

Come see us and play the recycling game! Perfect for learning all about what can and cannot be recycled on campus.
